a friend once told me of this certain syndrome, Don Juan Syndrome. it is a syndrome wherein you "become the person like your father whom you dearly hate." you hate the things that he keeps on doing so much that you could find yourself doing similar things. it sucks, i know. but there really are people who are like this. i just hope they realize it one day, and try to do something about it.
and also... i found this article on Pathological Liars.

"Diagnoses such as the BPD, Attention Deficit Disorder, and anxiety disorders can trigger lying as a way of dealing with stress. This is particularly true if lying was the learned behavior as a child... The bottom line, however, is that the individual has to make the decision that lying is not a smart approach. It's important to recognize that their lies could come back and hurt you. It's important to prevent that!" (Source: http://www.biologicalunhappiness.com/AskDoc/Do4Liars.htm)
